Is Pay Per Click Advertising in Google Dead ?

Posted by trevor weir | Work At Home Opportunities | Saturday 30 May 2009 12:45 am

Some forecasters are saying that Google’a PPC (Pay Per Click Advertising) is dead. This is a strange claim when the latest Neilson online results show Google once again pummeling Yahoo and MSN in search ratings. So why would anyone make a statement like this : Don’t by Google Advertising!

Well it could be a little further from the truth, ha ha, but not much. In reality, Google’s stock isn’t exactly roaring ( nobody’s is at the moment ) but the latest online Neilson polls show Google with a commanding 63-71% of the market place and continuing it’s slow but relentless climb.

What’s good for the goose isn’t always good for the gander and in this case what is good for Google has not always been good for the advertisers. For those without knowledge of how its done – Google’s advertising is done based on a highest bidder system.

If you normally have 1200 potential buyers at your saturday afternoon car auction then one bright saturday afternoon 40 additional bus loads of fun filled revellers with deep pockets stop by on their way to the casino, well are your cars going to be auctioned for higher or lower prices?

And who was this good for? The auctioneers or the public attempting to steal a good car cheaply? If you answered the auctioneers, you are absolutely right.

If those cash rich players on the way to the local casino actually don’t spend all their time in the bathroom, they are likely to bid on a few cars just for the hell of joining a live gambling arena.

So, perhaps the rumors of the death of Pay Per Click were justified? Google has already said that mom and pop bidders are the most careful and get the highest returns and best ROI. But lately, that could just be because they either aren’t bidding or have found somewhere else to bid.

Deep pocketed bidders without a sense of ROI can bid certain keywords to near unreasonable prices.

Would you pay 9 dollars for the keyword phrase “Internet marketing”? Most of us would say this is a little pricey. A hundred clicks later, and you are almost at a thousand dollars. With a 3% conversion rate, you would need to be selling a product for 600 dollars at 50% margin just to get close to break even.

Having fun yet?

Suppose I told you that while a few of us having been noticing this trend lately, that a few guys have been taking action. A few weeks ago, while consulting for a real estate friend, Randy, I noticed that over 40 real estate brokers were bidding in Google for 3 key phrases and almost no one in Yahoo.

By Friday of the same week, Google was reporting over 9,000 searches on just 3 related key phrases – Fly condo, Fly Condos and Fly Condos Toronto.

Nimbly and joyfully the gang of 40 plus real estate agents in Toronto bid the pricing above the 1 dollar mark, while the Yahoo search costs stayed under 10 cents.

A Guide To Organic SEO And Its Benefits

Posted by admin | Work At Home Opportunities | Friday 29 May 2009 4:59 am

What Is Organic SEO?

Put in the simplest manner possible, organic SEO is search engine optimization done manually using no black hat methods, no underhand methods and no automated scripting. It is the purest form of optimizing your website for the benefit of search engines, while still retaining interest for your site visitors, and done well it is exactly the thing that search engines are looking for in a website. Once they find it they will reward your site with better rankings and improved positions within the search engine results pages. Throughout the course of this article it will be referred to as simply SEO.

Understanding The Search Engines

Understanding Search Engines and their general concept is vital to the use of effective SEO methods. Search engines enable their visitors to enter a specific word or term, known as keywords. Once submitted, all pages containing those keywords that can be found in the search engine’s directory are listed on the search engine result pages. Each page is “ranked” according to relevancy, popularity and a few other factors. Therefore, in theory, the more relevant a page is to a given keyword the more likely it will appear at the top of the listings.

Introducing The Search Engine Spiders

Another important factor to remember about search engines is that they don’t use real people to crawl the billions of websites and judge how relevant they are. Instead they use automated software called a “spider” or a “bot” that does this work much quicker. The calculations that the search engine uses to determine the ranking of a website are called algorithms and in the case of the major search engines like Google, Yahoo and MSN these algorithms are changed on a regular basis. The changes and the specifics of the algorithms are not released to the public in order to prevent black hat SEOs from manipulating their sites to reach the top of the pile despite containing to information relevant to the search query or keyword.

Optimizing For Search Engines – Optimizing For Visitors

Of course to some extent, all of us reading this article are probably guilty of altering our web pages to meet the whims of search engines but it must be done in a positive and organic way. We understand that optimizing a page purely for the benefit of search engines spiders may massively detract from the actual value of the site to your visitors. Search engines understand this too, hence the evolution of the algorithms. With each new algorithm created and usually patented by search engines like Google, we are getting closer to a structure whereby sites are genuinely judged on their value to visitors. It may sound like an Isaac Asimov novel but the algorithms and the spiders are basically becoming more human like.

Basic Components Of SEO

The actual methods of optimizing your website are saved for another article, but the basic components of an SEO campaign are broken down into on page and off page optimization techniques. On page SEO includes factors like keyword inclusion, content optimization, page structure etc… whereas the main contributing factor of off page optimization is inbound links. There are many different factors to each of these areas and different SEOs will give you varying information on which factors are the most relevant to gain higher rankings. These extensive differences in opinion occur because nobody is certain of the algorithm criteria.

The Benefits Of SEO

SEO is probably the most beneficial way to conduct Internet promotion. It is highly cost effective, can yield long term results and the leads it generates are opt in and targeted. This doesn’t mean you shouldn’t consider trying out alternative methods of advertising your site. For many, banner advertisements, press releases (can actually be used as part of an SEO campaign as well), PPC campaigns and sponsored listings prove to highly beneficial and including these will help your site’s popularity.

To Cost Effectiveness And To Life

The cost effectiveness is easily determined when you look at the potential of an SEO campaign compared to the method that many consider to be the next best thing – PPC. A PPC campaign will usually cost you anywhere upward of 5 cents per visitor generated. This means that for every thousand visitors you receive you will have paid $50. Some fairly basic SEO work on a web site containing ten pages will generate this kind of traffic on a monthly basis relatively quickly.

$50 doesn’t sound much but consider that you pay this in one month to receive the desired one thousand visitors. Over the space of a year you will have paid $600, and so on. Now consider that you are competing for a relatively competitive keyword and you find that you need to be paying a minimum of 50 cents per click to generate just the one thousand clicks in a month. All of a sudden you’re paying $6000 per year and you are still only getting one thousand clicks every month. $6000 will buy you an awful lot of SEO work and you should find that within a few months you are generating a lot more traffic using SEO.

Targeted Leads

Targeted leads are the best type of leads you can generate. It means that the visitors to your site are already predisposed to the basic topic of your site and are interested in what you have to say. It means that they will be more likely to purchase goods or services from your site, click on affiliate links or click Google ads to earn you revenue. Because SEO leads are physically searching for the topic that your site relates to you are guaranteed that they are interested in whatever you’re offering. First of all they search using keywords relevant to your site. They then read the description and name of your site and this further compounds their interest in the page in question and click on the link. Already they have become highly susceptible to the message of your web page.

So Remember…

SEO is a webmaster’s greatest tool but treated badly it can quickly blow up in your face. By ensuring you stick to the very letter of the law and do not use any underhand methods you should soon benefit from powerful leads that will frequent your site and earn you revenue

New Pair Of Shoes And A Lesson In Internet Marketing

Posted by admin | Work At Home Opportunities | Thursday 28 May 2009 11:28 am

Last night, after watching the Champion League’s Final between Manchester United and Barcelona, I was pissed! In fact, I was so mad that the inevitable happened…The law of attraction kicked in and I actually broke my shoe. Yep, broke it!

Well, that meant that I needed to go to the shops and get me a new one. Being an “Official Sports Wear” freak, as you could have noticed if you have watched some of my videos, I went to the only shop in my home town I rely on when It comes to sportswear – Mike’s Sportswear.

Today, when I left the shop with a pair of new Nikey’s, I have realized something. There was a lesson in internet marketing to be learned here. Why have I gone straight to Mike’s without even considering going to another shop? I mean, we have plenty of Sportswear shops here, but I have chosen Mike’s for a specific reason.

I have built a solid relationship with Mike’s for the past 3 years. The moment I have started taking care of my body and working out until now my experience with Mike’s has been great. That led to me being a regular client at his store. Well, this is exactly what you should be doing with your business.

Build a rock solid relationship with your list. This will lead to the same results as for me and Mike’s. They will be eager to listen to what you have to offer. Not only will they purchase from you, but they will keep coming back again and again simply because they like you and like buying from you.

This is actually one of the concepts I learned in the Launchtree Course: make your customer’s experience a pleasant one and he will keep coming back! That is also why Mike Dillard says that the quantity of the leads you generate is not that important (although I believe it actually is…) but the Quality of your relationship with your leads is. That is why all the Top Guns of internet marketing are talking about Value and Reciprocity. This is what makes your business an empire in the long run.

Making Money with Resale Rights

Posted by admin | Work At Home Opportunities | Wednesday 27 May 2009 9:15 pm

No product…not a problem!

In this information age, many people start making money online by selling information. It doesn’t even matter who wrote the content. In most circumstances they have bought the resale or reprint rights of the product and in doing so are able to make sales and keep either a percentage or all of the profits. Some people have even gone one better and bought the master license for a product. In all of these cases, not only do you save time by not writing your own content, you also benefit from the author’s good reputation.

Some examples of informative products include eBooks, email courses and articles. Ebooks can be easily found online and cover an extremely large topic range from weight loss to online businesses. It would be extremely unlikely for you not to find your preferred topic in eBook format. Email courses are courses that you email to people each day over a set time period. Your audience does not download these courses. However, do not be deterred by that as automating emails will make the job much more manageable. The other option is the purchasing of articles which you can then place on your own website or article directories.

Once you have found the product you will promote, you will need to buy either the resale rights, reprint rights or master rights. How much money you could potentially make would depend on both the demand for the product and which of the above you choose to buy. If you buy the resale rights, you can resale the product but you do not own it. For each sale you make, you collect only a percentage of the profits. Buying the reprint rights is more expensive because the amount of copies you can reprint is unrestricted and you keep all of your profits. The best option, as well as the dearest, is to buy the master rights. The master rights are basically a combination of resale and reprint rights. The draw card is that not only can you sell reprints but you can also sell the reprint rights. This means that you have the potential to make double the money.

The rights you choose to buy will depend on how much money you plan to make, as well as how much money you can spend in the initial stages of your money making business. Obviously, anyone with a lower budget would need to begin with resale rights and build their way up the ladder. Either way, you will be creating a potentially lucrative business.
